Lives Suspended is a short documentary about Saskia, a quiet woman with cerebral palsy who has been living in a nursing home while she waits for a spot at a group home. When the nursing home moves her to a new building, the transition leads to negative consequences for Saskia.

This documentary was produced as part of “Working Together to Support Transitions” – a research grant awarded by the Ontario Ministry of Community and Social Services to Hélène Ouellette-Kuntz and Dr. Yona Lunsky (2014-2015).

Patrick’s Place follows Patrick, a friendly, adventurous 28 year old diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder and obsessive compulsive disorder, as he moves into his own apartment in his parent’s basement. Patrick’s parents hope that this transition will help him become more independent and will calm his anxiety about moving entirely to his own place in the future. As we get to know Patrick, we learn how his family and formal supports work together to support him to have a full life with increasing independence.

A Home of My Own is a short documentary about Ken, a person with a very giving heart who enjoys volunteering his time to others. In this documentary, we learn how Ken’s parents have supported him throughout his life and how diligently they worked to find a place for him to call his own!

Making Dreams a Reality is a short documentary about Kelsey, a good-natured young woman with Down syndrome. Throughout the year, we followed Kelsey as she explored adult life and worked to realize her dreams.
